"I am not about to send American boys nine or ten thousand miles
from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves."
~Lyndon B. Johnson~ |
To listen to the media, we, as Vietnam Vets are all violent, drug addicted, drunk, homeless vagrants. What would you expect from a bunch of drug crazed baby killers? Within the past year I have located 31 former members of Echo Co. and guess what? Not one, yes thats right, not one is drug addicted, drunk and homeless. My, my, I wonder what we did wrong? 95% plus of all Vietnam Vets came home, put the war behind them and went on with life. The media fails to mention this.
I want to say thank you to John Sperry, VP of the Mobile Riverine Force Association for assisting me in the search for my commrades. I am a member of the MRFA and urge all former members of the 9th to join. This is a first class association and even though the 1st Brigade was not part of the Riverine forces, they welcome us into their ranks. Follow the link to their web page. |
I want to say thanks to a friend for constructing this website for me. Without her, it wouldn't have been possible. She is a friend of the Vietnam Vet. and her father Lt. Cmdr John J. Hootman served with the US Navy aboard the USS Cavalier and a tour in Vietnam. So, THANK YOU LAURA!! Follow the link to see her "Welcome Home" and a tribute to her dad. |
